This kitchen remodel began with homeowners who already loved the general layout of their main perimeter cabinetry but wanted to elevate their dated, original space into something beautiful, functional, and refined. One of the first changes was addressing the original cabinetry, which stopped short of the ceiling and collected dust. By extending the cabinets up to the full nine-foot height and adding elegant display boxes at the top, the kitchen instantly gained a sense of height, presence, and custom craftsmanship. The island, once undersized and underutilized, was expanded in both length and width to provide generous prep space and comfortable seating. This transformation made the island a true centerpiece for cooking, gathering, and entertaining. A bold, colourful Fisher & Paykel 36″ induction range was added, bringing both professional-grade performance and personality to the room. Material choices were equally impactful. The perimeter countertops were upgraded to warm, natural Taj Mahal quartzite, while the island features rich Cambria Charlestown quartz — a surface echoed in the striking full-height backsplash behind the range. Black Pearl granite was used to reimagine the adjoining double-sided fireplace, paired with decorative panel moulding and a custom mantle on both the kitchen and living room sides, tying the two spaces together in style and detail. To finish, crown moulding was reinstalled throughout, introducing the final elegant architectural detail that frames the space and complements the refined finishes. The result is a beautiful blend of function and sophistication. It’s a kitchen that retains the layout the homeowners loved, but now offers the craftsmanship, luxury materials, and thoughtful details that make it feel entirely new. This remodel proves that even without starting from scratch, strategic updates can turn a familiar space into a showpiece that’s built for both everyday living and special moments.
