Heritage Home Renewal
Whole Home
This heritage home remodel thoughtfully transforms a charming yet compartmentalized space into an open, inviting family haven designed for modern living. The homeowners, a growing family, loved the home’s solid bones but felt the original layout was too closed off and lacked natural light. To address these challenges, a new rear addition dramatically expanded the main living areas, bringing light and flow to the heart of the home. A key new feature is the mudroom, added off the laneway entrance to provide essential storage and a practical solution for muddy boots and coats. The outdated kitchen was completely reimagined with custom cabinetry topped by Cambria Smithfield quartz countertops, offering ample work and storage space. This space now seamlessly connects to an elongated family room and dining area at the home’s core, fostering togetherness and easy entertaining. Lighting was a priority, and the addition’s design maximizes natural daylight, brightening both main and upper floors. Upstairs, the addition transformed two cramped half baths into a spacious upper-level laundry, a main bathroom, and a luxurious primary suite. The new owner’s suite boasts a walk-in closet and a serene ensuite featuring a Neptune Malaga 32″ freestanding soaker tub centered perfectly for tranquil views outside. Beautiful UrbanWood Yaletown white oak hardwood floors flow throughout, complementing the open stringer staircase that adds warmth and visual openness to the space. The combination of heritage character with modern amenities creates a balanced, welcoming home ready to grow with the family for years to come.
