About This Project

The homeowners already had great views and a great space to entertain but there were a few things missing: a roof over the 2nd storey deck, open deck joist in the ceiling and the outdated railing. With thoughtful planning, a solution was presented to extend the gable end of the roof overtop of the whole exterior structure, extend the upper deck by an additional 4 feet to fully cover the lower level and remove the existing structural steel posts that obstructed views from the main level. This project wasn’t without its challenges to simply ‘add’ a roof as the engineering for the existing structure of the home and most of both floors were to be kept. Through planning and design, we designed and built a beautiful outdoor space. Custom steel framing was specifically designed and built with the assistance of our engineer and metal fabricator to achieve the open concept the homeowner desired.
