The dark, isolated rooms of this home were in dire need of change. With the help of some engineering, natural light and crisp bright colours, this home was transformed into a fresh, open living space.
An engineered steel beam was spanned in place of the existing bearing wall, flush in the ceiling to create an uninterrupted, open space. Hardwood covers the floor in both the kitchen and living room, increasing the visual flow of the open concept. New pot lights were installed throughout the spaces to create a modern look and highlight key features.
Light custom cabinetry and countertops in the kitchen give the old gloomy kitchen new life. Opening the wall between living spaces has allowed new space for a grand center island, providing an abundance of countertop and eating areas. The dark tone of the island adds a contrasting feature to this newly updated kitchen. A gas stove top and matching steel appliances finish off the kitchen, along with a separate custom breakfast bar area loaded with storage space. The kitchen flows into the newly finished living room, featuring the new stack stone fireplace surround, which gives the whole room a revitalized experience. New stair railings were installed to match the theme of the spaces and a tile inlay adds convenience and spark to the entry area.
By bringing together these spaces and giving them a fresh uplift, the feeling of this home has been dramatically changed. This grand transformation is one that will be enjoyed for years to come.
