From the wine rack on the Island to the plate racks beside the window, this cabinetry was outdated and ready to be revived. The raised Island bar seating, once a desired feature, was now limiting the valuable working space on the island. The homeowner loved the location of the kitchen, but it lacked appeal. In design, we looked at a few different ideas to better utilize the space but still maintain the flow that worked so well. We wanted to bring some attention to the kitchen but not overwhelm the design as the customer prefers practicality over pizzazz. To explore these options, we created a feature wall around the window that would highlight the window but still complement the cabinetry. Faux beams were added to the ceiling to create dimension and direct your eyes to the feature wall. Regarding the cabinetry doors, the customer was looking for something unique. They didn’t want a modern flat panel and the traditional shaker was what they had before. We worked with our custom cabinetry supplier to provide them with a simple shaker door style that provided sleek lines and a modern variant of a classic design. Each piece that was added to this kitchen was carefully selected, and all added a unique touch to this home.
