About This Project

Ages ago stood an elegant relic, though with new times grow new values. Awkward stairwells and a galley kitchen are reinvigorated into sweeping open spaces with streaming natural light. Reimagined floorplans encompassed with brilliant stone fireplaces, crisp new flooring and glistening cabinetry; reestablish order giving birth to a new era.

Looking over the Thames River sat a home that did not take advantage of the stunning views. A general lack of windows and lighting made this home seem lifeless and dim. A galley kitchen, which did not make use of the homes great space, needed to be relocated and revitalized. The stairwell was placed so that it broke up the usability of the homes large floorplan. Updates were needed for this entire home.

The whole home was stripped down and prepped for renewal. The wall separating the dining room and galley kitchen was removed and the stairwell was pulled. The ceiling was dropped for new insulation and venting of the attic, after four new skylights were installed. A full window wall pours in natural light in support of the new skylights.

The main floor rooms were changed to incorporate an office and brand new laundry area. A powder room was added to this floor, allowing the master bedroom to take full possession of the main bathroom as an ensuite. Wall to wall built-ins complete with media center were installed in the master bedroom for organization. Within the ensuite sits a quartz under mount tub flowing into the custom glass shower, dual vanity and toilet, all relocated for functionality. Wire brushed ash covers the floor with two toned kitchen cabinetry and countertops above.

The stairway was located next to the hallway between the kitchen and the master suite, opening up for a more inviting entry. This leads to the lower level which has been finished with two bedrooms, a jack and jill bathroom, workout space and family room. Vinyl plank flooring was installed here for warmth and durability.

After a vast amount of reforming and updating, this home now takes advantage of its large floor space and spectacular views.
